Mithun Manhas, a veteran of Indian domestic cricket, has been elected unopposed as the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He formally assumed office as the 37th BCCI president at the 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Manhas, 45, succeeds Roger Binny and becomes only the third former cricketer, after Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, to hold the top post in the world’s richest cricket board.


Election and Key Leadership Appointments

Manhas’ election followed a unanimous decision by BCCI members, continuing the recent trend of consensus elections for top posts. Upon taking office, he emphasized his commitment to developing Indian cricket, calling it a “huge responsibility” he would fulfill with dedication and passion.

Other appointments at the AGM include:

  • Secretary: Devajit Saikia (re-elected)
  • Vice-President: Rajeev Shukla (re-elected)
  • Treasurer: A Raghuram Bhat (former India spinner)
  • Joint Secretary: Prabhtej Singh Bhatia

Selection Committees

  • Men’s Selection Committee: Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh were appointed as members, replacing S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee. Ajit Agarkar continues as Chairman.
  • Women’s Selection Committee: Amita Sharma was appointed Chairperson, joined by Sulakshana Naik, Jaya Sharma, and Sravanthi Naidu.

Born on October 12, 1979, in Jammu and Kashmir, Manhas made a name in domestic cricket as a prolific middle-order batsman and occasional off-break bowler/wicket-keeper.

    • Batting Consultant for the Bangladesh Under-19 team.
