War 2 Movie Review – Hrithik Roshan & Jr. NTR Deliver Style, But Story Falls Short

Entertainment
War 2 packs in breathtaking action and star power from Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, but suffers from a predictable plot and uneven pacing. Full review here.

War 2 Review: Spectacle Over Substance

The YRF Spy Universe expands with War 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. Directed with an eye for spectacle, the film brings together two of Indian cinema’s biggest names — Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR – in a high-voltage action drama that promises adrenaline-pumping entertainment.

For fans of large-scale action set pieces and stylish cinematography, War 2 delivers in spades. But beyond the glamour and gunfights, the film struggles with narrative depth and pacing.

    What Works

    💥 Action & Visuals
From chase sequences to gravity-defying combat scenes, War 2 is visually stunning. The production values are top-notch, and certain set pieces — including the much-talked-about Hrithik vs. Jr. NTR dance-off — are designed for big-screen impact.

    ⭐ Star Power & Chemistry
Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR share a magnetic on-screen presence, blending style, charm, and intensity. Their face-offs, both in action and drama, are the film’s key highlight. Kiara Advani also shines, delivering a confident performance that adds freshness to the mix.

    🚀 Engaging First Half
The first half moves at a brisk pace, packed with whistle-worthy hero entries and high-energy sequences that keep audiences hooked.

    Where It Falters

    📉 Weak, Predictable Story
The plot reuses familiar tropes from earlier YRF Spy Universe outings, making the second half feel sluggish. The momentum established early on loses steam as predictable twists and formulaic beats take over.

    🎨 Inconsistent VFX
While most of the visuals are polished, some sequences — notably a boat chase — fail to impress, with reviewers calling them “fake-looking” and immersion-breaking.

    💔 Lack of Emotional Connect
Despite hints at deeper character arcs, the script rarely invests in emotional payoffs. The result is a film that dazzles visually but leaves viewers unmoved on a personal level.

    🎵 Underwhelming Music
The background score is loud and overbearing at times, while the songs lack the infectious energy expected from a YRF spectacle.

    Verdict

War 2 is a glossy, big-budget entertainer that thrives on its lead performances and large-scale action sequences. If you’re going in for style, swagger, and high-voltage stunts, you’ll leave satisfied. But if you’re hoping for an engaging, layered story, you might find yourself checking your watch in the second half.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) – A visual feast best enjoyed in theatres, but not without flaws.
